Why Emmanuel, why???
If there ever was a true love-hate relationship between two parties, I have no doubt that Emmanuel Adebayor would be one half of that relationship. Once again, Adebayor is actively trying to cement his reputation as a cray-baby primadonna. Don’t get me wrong, I love Adebayor, but it’s really a dysfunctional family sort of love where you have that one problem child who keeps screwing up and frustrating everyone else but you love them anyways because they are part of the family.
The latest episode involving Captain Togo is his refusal to fly to Zambia for Wednesday’s pivotal World Cup qualifying match. You can have a read of the article here, but I will summarize if you don’t care to browse the article. Basically, the team was demanding that the president of the Togo Football Federation travel with the team to Zambia but he is apparently in the middle of preparations for the burial of his mother back in Togo so he is skipping the trip, understandably. The team accepted this, everyone that is except for Adebayor. So apparently, the team has departed for Zambia with Adebayor remaining in Lome, the capitol of Togo. I mean really Emmanuel, pick your battles! How can this be an issue worth deserting the team on? I feel for the rest of the players as they are trying to do their best for their country and are getting the shaft by their leader and by all accounts most important player. I don’t want to judge Adebayor without hearing his side of the story but this looks very, very bad. I hope for Emmanuel’s sake that there is more to this story than meets the eye.
Here’s hoping that in the face of adversity the Sparrowhawks can show some resolve and pull out at least a draw in hostile territory. Never a dull moment in the land of Les Eperviers, stay tuned.

I just don’t understand Adebayor sometimes. Going into Togo’s last game of qualifying last time around he said he would kill someone to make it to Germany. Now he regularly removes himself from major national team games. I really want to like Adebayor but I find it impossible because of his actions sometimes. If Togo lose to Zambia which I now expect to happen and they don’t go through as one of the 8 best runners up its all on Adebayor as far as I’m concerned.

What the hell kind of crap is this? I hope Adebayor knows something we don’t because on the face of it this just doesn’t make any sense. How can he get away with this anyway? I would expect that he’s getting an earful from his countrymen. Unless he bounced already! Bizarre.
