Togo is finally being friendly
I have often been very frustrated with the Togolese FA for a few reasons, not the least of which is the fact that they seem to line-up very few international friendlies. Even before major tournaments, ie. THE WORLD CUP, Togo uses a match against Liechtenstein as a warm-up??? And other times, it just seems like there aren’t any friendlies period. How is a club supposed to get better and learn how to play together when they very rarely, well, play together?
That being said, Togo actually has a friendly coming up. That’s right, mark your calenders for March 25 when Togo takes on recent African Cup of Nations participants Guinea in France. Goodness know I won’t be able to see the game or probably even find out much about who played and what not, but at least there will be a game.
A couple questions, will Adebayor take time away from his busy schedule at Arsenal to make an appearance? And will Le Mans Mathieu Dossevi (younger brother of midfielder Thomas Dossevi who was part of Togo’s World Cup team) be called up for the friendly? The younger Dossevi has apparently been likened to Franck Ribery and is currently being closely followed by both Villareal and Porto. Thirdly, as far as I know, Togo is still without a full-time coach. Who will be leading the team against Guinea?
These questions I know aren’t too interesting to Togolese outsiders but to someone like myself who is passionate about Les Eperviers, these are some important things to consider heading into World Cup qualifying season.

I’m with you Brad. I’ve been just as frustrated with Tunisia. I think Togo is worse off because we actually organize friendlies but they’ve been really really lacking in quality recently. Guinea are very respectable opponents and that should be a good game. If they call him up, Adebayor will have no choice but the show up. Fifa rules don’t allow him to say no (unless it’s informal and the coach agrees). We’re playing Cote D’Ivoire. Also in France. I bet you could find this game through live footy.

I’ve used it quite a bit and you may know about it already. Quite helpful. I’m a sopcast fiend now. BTW, I read on BBC rumor mill that they’re calling Adebayor the modern day Sampson because he’s lost form since cutting the trademark dreads. I don’t know if they’re counting the Milan game but in the league they may be right. I’m an Arsenal fan so I hope he gets back to scoring quickly. Keep up the good work and keep bringing us Togo news!
