West Africa catches World Cup fever
West Africa is a place where some of the World’s best players come from, but no country has ever won the World Cup. Amazingly, Togo, Ghana and Ivory Coast are neighbors, who have all made the finals this time around. Africa has 5 nations competing in Germany, the other 2 being Angola and Tunisia.
African teams can be surprise packages, remember Tunisia in 1978? Or what about Senegal 2002? This time around Ivory Coast and Ghana have the best chance of success, but people all over West Africa are getting excited about the Finals. Today I was wearing a Ivory Coast shirt, which probably confused the locals here in chilly Berlin. Let’s hope the cold weather doesn’t take the edge of the boys from Africa.
