Togo transformed by FIFA World Cup 2006

June 7th, 2006 | By: Nick O'Neill | No Comments »

Togo is a small country of 5 million people in West Africa. Their place in the FIFA World Cup 2006 is helping Togo and its people. To be honest Togo is a bit of a banana republic, you either don’t know where it is, or you don’t care. But things are changing, the World Cup has forced stupid soccer fans to get out the atlas and put a circle around Togo, just in case their mates at the pub bring up the subject.

According to the BBC, kids are out in there capital Lome, playing football and the people are at fever pitch. There is a magic feeling when a country makes the World Cup for the first time, let’s hope Togo can knock in a few to give the home fans something to cheer about.
