Togo team formation for World Cup Germany

Togo has got to change everything after crashing out of the African Nations Cup. This includes their tactics. I don’t know what formation they played but in World Cup 2006, Togo have to be realistic. They are up against very well disciplined teams who have it together. If Togo try to play them all over the field, using players who are not familiar with each other, they will lose 5-0.

One strategy they might try is the old Italian ‘catenaccio‘ 7 man defence. Very frustrating for opponents and if Togo can go hard at set pieces (corners, free kicks, penalty area throw in’s) they might snag a goal. Playing catenaccio requires team work too and means surviving sustained attack. If is your last option, at least you have an option.
