Togo first team in Germany: Beaten by Saudi

May 18th, 2006 | By: Nick O'Neill | 8 Comments »

Togo was the first of the 32 teams to arrive in Germany, after being beaten 1-0 by mighty Saudi Arabia.

The Sparrow Hawks lost to the Arabs on Sunday and flew into ‘Kaputgart’ on Monday. After the loss, Togo coach, German mastermind Otto Pfister said “We’re obviously underdogs,” “But I think we can achieve a thing or two at the World Cup.” “All our preparations are aimed at the first match against South Korea.” “If we can win that, every match after that will be like a ‘final’ for us.”

You see how devilishly smart he is? Putting all the emphasis on the Koreans. Togo players speak a very romantic sounding version of French, and that’s where the danger lies. Engaging the likes of Thierry Henry and David Trezeguet in friendly banter, before WHACK! goal at the other end. I tell you, I like this guy’s style, and fully expect Togo to come out ducking and weaving.

Adebayor was busy preparing to sit the bench during Arsenal’s Champions League Final.

Adebayor didn’t play because he was in Togo for the one-year anniversary of his father’s death.

I hadn’t heard about his father, I just heard that he would join his teammates after he was finished with Arsenal following the Champions league final.

How many more bloody times (well, none as the season’s just finished). Adebayor was cup-tied for Arsenal’s Champions League Campaign after appearing early in the season for Monaco.

if he did not play there is a reason for that. It might be because of eu campionship, his father(I doubt) or something else. Though it might seem bad(he did not play with other team members) it is goodwho know he presence will be of more confort for the team and he might soccor a goal. and if that had happened the team will be taken seriously by it’s opponents. Now the team is still the underdog and the weakest of al the 32. it is good starting.
