Otto Pfister has his hands full before World Cup 2006

March 20th, 2006 | By: Nick O'Neill | No Comments »

Togo’s new coach Otto Pfister has his hand full preparing for the World Cup in Germany. So far he has not met all the players, has not seen them all play and has not taken them through a warm up game. Organizing a cohesive team that can actually play together for June is a big task, so Pfister will be touring Europe to see some of his Euro based stars. Coming to England to watch Emmanuel Adebayor will not do him any good, unless he likes watching the reserves. Adebayor can’t break through to Arsenal’s bench.

Still Togo has a core of about 8 players who paly in Europe and to get them to gel with the local boys Pfister is organizing 5 warm up games in 3 weeks in Germany!

Pfister is an amazing guy and obviously loves Africa, having managed Rwanda, Upper Volta (now Burkina Faso), Senegal, the Ivory Coast, Zaire (now the Democratic Republic of Congo) and Ghana
