Togo is finally being friendly

March 19th, 2008 | By: Brad | 2 Comments »

I have often been very frustrated with the Togolese FA for a few reasons, not the least of which is the fact that they seem to line-up very few international friendlies. Even before major tournaments, ie. THE WORLD CUP, Togo uses a match against Liechtenstein as a warm-up??? And other times, it just seems like [...]

Champions League Update

February 19th, 2008 | By: Brad | 1 Comment »

Oh wait, were you expecting a post about the UEFA Champions League? Sorry, that already gets enough coverage in the media. What about the African Champions League? It’s true, they have one of those too, it’s not just the Europeans that get to have Champions League fun. Although, good luck ever catching a CAF Champions [...]

Togo is taking over England

February 15th, 2008 | By: Brad | 1 Comment »

Ok, maybe that’s a bit of an exaggeration. The tiny country of Togo has only a couple players in top European leagues, with Arsenals leading scorer Emmanuel Adebayor being of course the most noteworthy. But Manny has company in England…kind of. Togo midfielder Moustapha Salifou (pictured) recently signed a contract extension with Aston Villa.

Manny strikes again

January 26th, 2008 | By: Brad | No Comments »

I keep trying to let the Togo blog be dormant for a while so I can focus solely on the African Cup of Nations, but freaking Emmanuel Adebayor won’t stop making news. From head-butting teammates to scoring goals, the Togo international definitely has a nose for the spotlight. It’s almost as if he doesn’t [...]

Gunners Feud

January 25th, 2008 | By: Brad | No Comments »

I thought I’d take a brief minute away from my duties over at the Mali blog to take a quick peek at a story involving the god of Togolese football, Emmanuel Adebayor. Or as he’s lovingly referred to in the article I’m talking about, “Manny”.

During a recent drubbing at the hand of Tottenham, Adebayor came [...]

Congratulations Emmanuel!!!

Yesterday Emmanuel Adebayor was announced as the 2007 BBC African Footballer of the year. A deserving award for the Togo star that is in the middle of a very impressive season with Arsenal in which he has notched 13 goals. And don’t forget, he’s only 23! Despite a disappointing ACN qualifying campaign, Adebayor is grown [...]

Time for another fearless ACN prediction…

January 12th, 2008 | By: Brad | 1 Comment »

What would a major international football tournament be without predictions? We as fans get a chance to have our say about who will be the best when all is said and done. We have nothing to lose in making predictions because if we are right we can claim expertise and extra-special knowledge about the teams [...]

The year ahead for Togo football

January 1st, 2008 | By: Brad | 1 Comment »

The first day of 2008 has arrived and what dominates my thinking is what is in store for Les Eperviers in the next year. So I thought I’d empty my brain of what I’m thinking, predicting and hoping for as Togo moves forward in the next few months. Many of these thoughts I’ll get into [...]

The voice of reason?

December 21st, 2007 | By: Brad | 2 Comments »

Well, everyone else and their mother has weighed in on the timing of the Africa Cup of Nations so why not me? Actually, this post is mainly going to be about what Emmanuel Adebayor thinks about the subject but first my quick 2 cents.
First of all, I understand the frustration of the club teams, mainly [...]
